Sports Medicine and Lameness Evaluations

Subtle changes in your horses performance can often indicate underlying sources of pain. For this reason, in depth lameness evaluations are key to maintaining soundness, optimizing performance, and supporting your horse's well-being.

A comprehensive lameness examination includes evaluation of movement at all gaits, both in hand and on a lunge line, as well as flexion tests and diagnostic nerve blocks to localize the source of lameness.

Based on exam findings, additional diagnostics such as radiographs (x-rays) and ultrasound imaging may be recommended. After diagnostics, we develop and individualized treatment plan tailored to your horses source of discomfort. Treatments may include joint injections (whether traditional corticosteroids or biologic therapies such as PRP or Pro-Stride), rehabilitation programs, systemic pain management, or even just time off.
