Pre Purchase Exams

Pre-purchase examinations (PPEs) are an essential step in making an informed decision when considering the purchase of a horse. Each examination can be tailored to your specific needs and the intended use of the horse, ranging from a focused assessment to a highly comprehensive evaluation.
At a minimum, each PPE includes:
-
a complete physical exam
-
an ophthalmic (eye) exam
-
evaluation of feet with hoof testers
-
assessment of movement at all gaits on the lunge line
-
observation in a straight line before and after joint flexions
Based on the initial findings and your expectations for the horse, additional diagnostics can be incorporated. These may include radiographs (x-rays) of joints, ultrasound, baseline bloodwork, coggins testing, and more.
